This year is the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Roman Catholic Church in early New Westminster - and a walking tour is being offered for those who want to find out more.
A Sense of History Research Services is offering the tour on Sunday, Sept. 19.
It starts at 1:30 p.m. on the front lawn of city hall, at Royal Avenue and Fourth Street.
The tour will visit a number of sites that have played a role in the Catholic history of the city since 1860 - including a reminder of St. Ann's Academy, a reminder of Saint Mary's Hospital, the site of St. Louis College, the site of the early St. Peter's and St. Charles' churches and more.
The tour is free, takes about one-and-a-half to two hours and goes rain or shine.
There's no need to pre-register. Anyone who wants to take part can just show up and join in the walk.
