Michael Jessen has pointed out the job-creating potential that investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy could have for our province.
B.C. is blessed with a wide variety of renewable energy sources, particularly hydro sources. Developing them would create thousands of jobs throughout the province, just as it did in former decades. Past development of the province's hydro resources has also proven to be a wise long-term investment and provided us with an energy source that is among the cleanest and most cost-effective in the world.
Placing families, jobs, and the economy high on the list of B.C.'s priorities is laudable - but they are not inconsistent with also achieving key environmental objectives through renewable energy development.
