The New Westminster Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a prolific con artist who is victimizing elderly Royal City women.

On Nov. 21, the man befriended an elderly woman by pretending to be her son. He followed her home, where he stole $240 from her wallet before fleeing.

The incident mirrors another incident which occurred in January this year where a man convinced an elderly woman to take out $1,600 from her bank account.

Police believe the same man is responsible for both incidents and have released surveillance video of the man involved in the November incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Andrew Corazza at 604-525-5411.
