A New Westminster bantam C3 hockey team showed their true hearts at a fundraiser for breast cancer.

At the beginning of the season, head coach Brian Tuccori asked the kids to pick a charity to raise money for and they unanimously picked the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.

So, last Saturday, Feb. 18 the team came together outside of the Walmart on Queensborough Landing to sell pink cookies for their charity.

The weather was less than ideal with constant raining and plus-3 Celsius but they mustered through and spent almost five hours in the elements to raise a total of $1,133.57 for the Beast Cancer society. I The teammembers were also helped out by Heatherbrae Builders who donated the pink toques to all the participants. They really helped us stay warm on such a cold day, said Tuccori.

"I am really proud that a team of 13- and 14-year-olds would think of such a charity and really demonstrate what it means to give back to your community. I couldn't ask for a better group of kids to coach," Tuccori said.
