Local striker strikes again

Christine Sinclair scored her ninth goal of the campaign and garnered her league-leading eighth assist in Women's Professional Soccer in a 6-1 victory over the Atlanta Beat on Aug. 28. Sinclair was one of five players to score in the one-sided win for the FC Gold Pride who clinched the regular season championship title earlier last month.

FC Pride's six-goal performance broke numerous league records, including five goals in one half of play, total goals in a game and largest margin of victory.

Sinclair's unassisted goal came in the 88th minute of play.

Former Vancouver Whitecap Tiffeny Milbret opened the scoring for the Pride just before half time.

The victory was the 14th for Pride, who lead the second-place Philadelphia Independence by 12 points in league standings.
