OTTAWA — The federal government is set to double the funding for the Own the Podium program — which has been credited for Canada’s golden performance during the Vancouver Olympics, CTV reports.

This week’s federal budget has earmarked $22 million for the winter sports portion, doubling the budget from the current $11 million, the news organization said.

Canada won a record-setting 14 gold medals during the 2010 Games.
