Douglas College, the defending five-time provincial and national collegiate badminton team opened the 2010 season with an undefeated start.
The Royals won the round-robin team competition, while taking first place in the individual women's singles and doubles and men's and mixed doubles in the opening tournament of the season at Capilano University last weekend.
Ruilin Huang, two-time player of the year, won her ninth consecutive B.C. College's singles tournament.
Huang also teamed with Melody Liang to take the women's doubles.
Liang was runner-up to Huang in the singles event.
Stephanie Ko and Amy Leung placed second in the women's doubles for Douglas.
Ko and Darren Hong placed first in the mixed pairs. Hong and freshman Rey Luo also took top spot in the men's doubles.
The new pairing dominated the doubles competition without dropping a single game, giving the Royals top spot in four out of five individual finals.
Luo lost the men's singles to No. 1 seed Peter Huang of Capilano in a hard-fought and well-playeed final.
In team play, Luo, Ruilin Huang and the doubles pairing of Liang and Leung all went 5-0 in their matches.
