A 23-year-old Surrey man now faces four charges after a Saturday morning incident in the 700 block of Fourth Avenue.
At approximately 2 a.m. on March 24, New Westminster police officers responded to a complaint of a man who had possibly been stabbed in the arm.
After patrol members responded, they started an investigation, along with members of the New Westminster Police Service's major crime unit.
According to Staff Sgt. Paul Hyland, investigators soon determined that the man's wound was self-inflicted and may have occurred during an attempted break-and-enter.
Alec Roberts, 23, of Surrey has now been charged with aggravated assault, assault, break-and-enter and mischief.
