North pole pets: Emmy got her photo taken with Santa at Van Pet's fundraiser for the Royal City Humane Society recently. Deirdre Haugo, owner of Swim Bark Run, took Emmy to get the photo as a surprise for her owner.

North Pole pets: Record reader Cheryl sent in this shot of her dog, Big Suze. Suze is a rescue dog evacuated from Hurricane Katrina.  They believe she is about 12 years old. The photo was taken at Tisol Pet Nutrition and Supply Store in Langley as part of a fundraiser for Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team (cdart.org). The organization is dedicated to animal welfare through the preparation for and rescue and shelter of domestic animals in a disaster.
