With everything going on in this busy city of ours, how can you choose what to do?
We're introducing a new feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. Watch for it in our Saturday editions. And, for this weekend, here's our first offering:
1. Get cheering for the home team at River's Reach, 320 Sixth St. The pub will be showing Game 6 of the Mann Cup at 4:45 p.m. of Friday, Sept. 17. The hometown Salmonbellies will be fighting to stay alive and force a Game 7 on Saturday as they try to win their 25th Mann Cup, in this live feed from Peterborough. If necessary, a Game 7 will go Saturday, Sept. 18, and the River's Reach will have that game on its big screens.
2. Get walking by checking out the Fraser River at Sapperton Landing Park. Follow the trail and boardwalk along the river to check out the river and the shore life. Bring a picnic lunch or dinner; there are tables and a picnic shelter. Access at the foot of Cumberland Street. (It's within walking distance of Sapperton SkyTrain station.)
3. Get laughing when two of America's top-rated comics hit the stage at Lafflines this weekend. Last Comic Standing champion Iliza Shlesinger, the first woman to win the show, will be doing two sets on Saturday night at 8 and 10:30 p.m.
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres' own favourite comedian, "all-American immigrant" Joe Wong, headlines a set Sunday night starting at 8 p.m. Check out www.lafflines.com for more info.
4. Get rockin' to the sounds of classic rock at the Starlight Casino on Saturday night. The Starlight Casino Legends of Rock series continues with Blood Sweat & Tears as the headliner. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is at 8 p.m. Starlight Casino is at 350 Gifford St., Queensborough.
5. Get fresh at the Queensborough Urban Farmers Fall Fair on Sunday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Queensborough Community Centre. Theme: Celebration of Root Vegetables. Who doesn't love beets, potatoes and carrots?
