Abbotsford residents will say goodbye to one major outlet, but will welcome the arrival of another one in the near future.

Target Corp., which runs the gigantic U.S. discount store, Target, announced the addition of 15 new B.C. locations, including one in Abbotsford.

The new B.C. locations are part of 105 recently announced outlets across Canada. Target will take over from Zellers locations, with stores set to open as early as 2013.

As one enormous retail store takes over Abbotsford, another has been forced to close its doors in the wake of fiscal turmoil.

Two Blockbuster video rental locations in Abbotsford are among the 146 Blockbuster Canada outlets to close throughout the next few weeks, after the company fell into receivership for its bankrupt American affiliate.

Blockbuster locations at Glen Mountain Village and Fraser Way Shopping Centre are listed for closure, as is the outlet in the Mission Valley Shopping Centre.
